Wood's

The Wood Brewery was started by the Wood family in the stables of The Plough Inn in Wistanstow, South Shropshire, in 1980 and it sold its first pints at the pub next door, The Plough. That beer, a lovely chestnut-coloured pint, was called Wood’s Special and we still brew it today.

Shropshire Lad

(4.5% ABV)
Brewer:

First brewed in 1996 to celebrate the centenary of the first publication of a Shropshire Lad by A. E. Housman, this 4.5% premium bitter was an instant hit.

Its well rounded malty flavour is evocative of the county and a bucolic lifestyle.  Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts combine to give a sweetish draught followed by a subtle bitterness and fruity overtones from the infusion of traditional Fuggles and Goldings hops from the neighbouring hop fields of Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
